Day 1
Arrive in Arusha town. Overnight at Silver Palm Hotel. B&B.
Day 2
Early morning departure from Arusha (around 8 AM). Drive to Mkomazi National Park, which takes about 4 hours. Game drive as you enter Mkomazi National Park, Tanzania’s newest National Park, and famous for its work with the endangered Black Rhino and the Wild Dog. It’s a fantastic place to visit for birdwatchers, with over 450 different species, such as the Eurasian Roller, Secretary birds, ground hornbills and the endemic Cobalt – Chested Vulturine Guinea fowl. Spend the day on game drive in the park, with lunch either at campsite or with lunchbox in the vehicle. Dinner and overnight at public campsite, inside Mkomazi National Park.
Day 3
After an early breakfast (around 7 AM), you have a short game drive as you leave Mkomazi National Park, and drive towards Amani and Amani Nature Reserve (about 3 – 3 ½ hours). As you arrive at Amani Nature Reserve, you will stop for lunch, before going on a walking safari (bird safari) in Amani (length of walk depending on you, between 2-4 hours). After walking safari, you drive to a nearby village for overnight at local guesthouse. Dinner either at a local restaurant or by our cook.
Day 4
After breakfast made by our cook, you leave the village, heading to Usambara Mountain (around 1 ½ – 2 ½ hour drive). As you get to Usambara Mountain, you will go to the campsite near the mountain, where our cook will prepare you a nice hot lunch. After lunch, you can visit the nearby waterfalls, as well as go on a bird walk. Return to campsite in the afternoon, for dinner and overnight. Around Usambara Mountain you can, if you’re lucky enough, see the endemic Naduk eagle owl, the Usambara Akalat (Usambara Robin-chat), and the Usambara weaver.
Day 5
Early morning breakfast at campsite (around 7 – 8 AM). Start you hike to Irente Viewpoint, the most famous viewpoint on Usambara Mt. You will pass local villages, where you will be able to visit different projects the locals are working on (the walk takes about 3-5 hours). Lunch in lunchboxes during the walk. Return to campsite in the afternoon for some relaxation, some bird viewing and dinner. Overnight at the campsite.
Day 6
After breakfast (around 8 AM), drive to Arusha National Park (about 6 hour drive). As you arrive at the Park, you will stop at Colobus campsite for hot lunch, before entering the National Park for walking safari, with armed ranger (duration about 2 hours, optional, extra cost). After walking safari you will go on a game drive, either around the park, or to Momella Lake for relaxation and birding. Return to campsite in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.
Day 7
After breakfast at campsite (around 8 AM), you leave the area and drive to Lake Manyara National Park (about 3 hour drive). As you get to the NP, you will go on a game drive in the park, with lunch in lunchboxes (around 4-5 hour drive). Afternoon drive to Jambo campsite in Mto Wa Mbu for dinner and overnight.
Day 8
After breakfast at the campsite (around 8 – 9 AM), you will go for a walk in Mto Wa Mbu, to breathe in the local culture. Maybe you want to buy some curios or try some local food. Around 12 – 1 PM you will leave Mto Wa Mbu and drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Game drive as you enter the NCA, for about 3-4 hours (optional visit to Olduvai Gorge and Laetoli footprints area, first man footprints, extra cost). In the afternoon drive to Simba A campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 9
Early morning descend into the world famous Ngorongoro crater (at 6 AM) for a 5-6 hour long game drive, with breakfast boxes in the car. After about 5-6 hours, you again ascend the crater, before driving (game drive on route) to Serengeti National Park. You will stop at Naabi Gate for lunch, before proceeding with you game drive inside Serengeti NP. The rest of the day you will spend on game drive before heading to Seronera campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 10
Early morning game drive (6 AM), before returning to campsite for breakfast around 8-9 AM. After breakfast, you will go on with game drive of the day, whether with lunchbox in the car (cold lunch) or a return to camp for hot lunch. After lunch, you will go on your third and last game drive of the day, until late afternoon when you return to campsite (Seronera) for dinner and overnight.
Day 11
After breakfast (7 – 8 AM), you will go on your first game drive of the day, for about 4-6 hours. If you are interested, you can also go on a balloon safari starting in the morning (optional, extra cost of USD $500 per person). After the game drive, you return to campsite for hot lunch before you go on a game drive of the day, until late afternoon. Return to Seronera campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 12
Early morning game drive (6 AM) in Serengeti. Return to campsite (Seronera) for breakfast (around 9 – 10 AM). After breakfast, you will start your second game drive of the day, on route to Ndutu area, in the NCA. The rest of the day you will spend on game drive around Ndutu area, or relax at Ndutu Lodge, whilst enjoying the animal and birdlife around the lake. Optional lunch (extra cost) at Ndutu Lodge or drive to campsite (about 10 min away) for hot lunch made by our cook. Dinner and overnight at a private campsite.
Day 13
Early morning game drive as you leave the NCA and head towards Lake Eyasi (around 6 AM), with breakfast in the car. Spend the day around Lake Eyasi, either on walking safari (with local guide), go hunting traditional style with the Hadzabe tribe (bushmen), go canoeing (extra cost of USD $20-25 per person), or visit nearby plantations. Dinner and overnight at Nyika campsite.
Day 14
After breakfast (around 8 – 10 AM), leave Lake Eyasi and drive towards Arusha town (about 4-5 hours). Optional stops along the way, for drinks, for buying curios, or for possible Masaai markets. Afternoon return to Arusha. Enjoy Tanzania tours conducted by Jackpot Safaris which includes walking safaris in Tanzania.
